Transparent LCD http://www.netbooknews.com Transparent display's seem to be grabbing all of the headlines recently so seeing a transparent LCD at Display Taiwan 2011 certainly grabbed our attention. Local Taiwanese display manufacturer CPT was showing off an 15.6" LCD display that would go from solid to tranparent with the ability to change the graphics, colour and gradient of transparency.  The graphics and text were crisp and clear and the blacks were very black creating a solid visual barrier.

The display resolution is 1600 x 900 HD with a 500:1 contrast ratio to begin with. Advertising and teleconferencing would be top of the list for top priority roll outs, which suggests this display won't come cheap.  However for my money the true killer app will be a nice big frameless laptop screen. Can't wait to see when this will be hitting the streets!
